Brendan Cox, former chief of the Albany Police Department, wrote an op-ed in the Times Unioncalling for marijuana legalization, not decriminalization, in New York State:
"In New York, marijuana decriminalization has not succeeded in curbing the costs or the harms of prohibition and has instead made the need for reform more clear. It's time to replace these failed experiments with a new playbook: marijuana legalization. Once and for all we need to establish a regulated and controlled industry rooted in equity and diversity. This is marijuana justice."
